Guidelines for Purchasing a Car Battery

Car battery is among the most important equipments that are required to make sure the car is running properly. It can be observed that if a vehicle is parked for quite some time and you attempt to start it with ignition, the car will not start or start with a lot of struggle. So batteries must be purchased within six months of manufacturing date. It must also be avoided to buy second hand car batteries as mostly the vendors selling out old batteries just do some repair work on the batteries that have completed their lives.

Car batteries are prone to cause trouble in their initial days, so it essential to get the batteries with adequate warranty. Generally, the warranty period is about one year (12 or 10 months), which is good enough time to check if the battery has some manufacturing faults. Other important decision you need to make is to check the batteries if it suits the climatic condition of the place of your living. Places with moderate weather can go for any battery; however, it's the places with harsh cold weather and extremely hot climate that requires special batteries for their respective areas. A car battery with higher RC rating is advised for hot weather locations and a car battery with higher CCA rating are recommended for places with cold weather.

Batteries are mainly of two types, low maintenance dry batteries and high maintenance batteries. Low maintenance batteries do not require the water checks very often, the only maintenance that is required is to clean the terminals and wires and greasing the terminals is also recommended. High maintenance batteries requires the owner to check for water levels in routine and cleaning of terminals and wires are also required. Good quality car batteries are essential as they are leak and spill proof and require very less maintenance.
